Choosing The Journey

Ruth joins a people

[The Book of Ruth begins with the tragic story of Naomi, whose husband and two sons have died. One of her two daughters-in-law, Orpah, is returning back home. In this passage, Ruth, the other daughter-in-law, speaks with Naomi about their future.]

She (Naomi) said: See, your sister-in-law is going back to be with her people, and her gods, so follow after her!

And Ruth said: Don't urge me to abandon you, nor to turn back -- for where you go, I will go, where you sleep, I will sleep, your people shall be my people, and your God my God.

Where you die, will I die, and there I'll be buried….

-The Book of Ruth 1:15-17

"Whatever day that you engage in the study of Torah, it is as if you received it that same day."

- Tanhuma HaYashan
